Harry Potter Day
Finished the newest book yesterday morning, and then went to see Order of the Phoenix last night. I enjoyed the film, although I recently re-read the book. I am not sure if someone you had not read the book would have gotten the whole thing. It was a very dense book, and I thought the writers did a good job of getting "the jist" across. All the main points were covered. Was blown away again at the impressive cast. At least the veteran actors are good! you would think the younger ones would be learning something... Daniel Radcliffe is shaping up well, but he still has a tendency to overdo things. I just don't think the girl who plays Hermione is very good. But she is in my head as Hermione now! So they can't change her! I just love Alan Rickman... Deathly Hallows was enjoyable, but entirely too long. I really think she could have edited some of it down a bit. And personally I felt the last few pages of the book were too much. I could have done with out it. When I sell 8.2 million copies of my next novel in a weekend, I will tell JK Rowling! American Flag?
So I went to put my American flag out this morning, because it's the 4th of July. I already had a flag out, yes, I am one of THOSE homeowners. The flag I had out is a red, white and blue ice cream cone. Very patriotic, but for the actual holiday, I figured I should put out the real thing. Anyway, I take the American flag out of the closet and have it laying on the couch while I drag the ice cream cone in. Ben Dog is watching these proceedings with much interest. It was before his walk, and he really could not understand why on earth I was fiddling around with these flags when we could be out sniffing for squirrels. There are a lot of rules regarding The Flag. I remember getting a print out when I bought it. I think there is one about it not touching the ground. And my library has a drop off for old flags, so they are disposed of "properly", and not just thrown out. Apparently that is a really bad thing to do. So, my question is, does the dog running around the back yard with the American Flag in his mouth constitute a sin against the United States? Is W going to be looking for me? Firing squad by Cheney? Hmmm. Current Mood: thoughtfulCurrent Music: Star Spangled Banner | | Tuesday, June 26th, 2007 | | 10:10 pm |
Couldn't stand it...
Came home after walking Ben in this pea soup humidity we are having, and needed a shower. After the shower, wanted to settle down with a book and a cup of tea. Of course I boiled the pot over again! Just went to Amazon, and bought a new kettle, could not wait for the BBB coupon. Altho I did manage to dreg up an Amazon coupon! So that helped. It arrives Friday. Hopefully I will not burn the house down before then. Current Mood: aggravatedCurrent Music: panting Ben... | | 5:07 pm |
Disaster!!!
My electric tea kettle stopped working. I actually had to dig a pot out of the cupboard and boil it on the stove this morning. Of course, I walked away from it and it boiled over, when I was getting ready for work. Need to get a new kettle. Hopefully I will get a "Bed, Bath and Beyond" coupon in the mail this week... and then there were four...
Ruairi cat died two weeks ago. He was 13, and had diabetes. He had been doing pretty well, on two shots of insulin a day, and then he had the accident in August. I still blame myself. I knew I heard something unusual, but did not get up to check. Ruairi had tried to get over the fence, and got stuck between the slats. By the time I found him, he was in a diabetic coma from the stress and the heat. He never regained full use of that paw. So, now just the kittens are left. I think they miss Ruairi. I miss him too. A lot. Current Mood: sad | | Saturday, June 24th, 2006 | | 9:37 pm |
No Travel Nursing for this dog!
Hello everyone. In case no one figured it out, I have decided against travel nursing right now. Ben and I are going to stay at home. Various reasons. My sister can't buy my house is the main thing. And I can't put 5 cats (one diabetic!) and a dog in a Honda Civic and travel around the country. So, I am staying home and working hard to pay off my debts. Which is ok for now. Really. I am going to be 40 years old in just over a month. Have been thinking a lot about that recently. What I have done, what I have accomplished. My hopes, my dreams... Blah, blah, blah. Have something up my sleeve, but can't say more right now. But definitely will try to post more regularly! Current Mood: contemplativeCurrent Music: NPR | | Sunday, November 13th, 2005 | | 6:31 pm |
The Beginning
I have decided to start travel nursing. Travel nursing allows a nurse to travel the country (and sometimes other countries), staying in one place and working at one hospital for 13 week assignments. Usually with the option of staying on. It will allow me to spend some time in other areas of the country without the committment that a complete move would be. It's been a big decision. I have 6 cats, one dog and a horse. Not to mention a house! The horse is going to stay where he has been boarded for the past two years. He is very happy there and well taken care of. My sister, Mary K, will be buying my house. The cats are staying with the house. She is very happy to have them around again, and they are happy to be staying home. The dog, Ben, is coming on this adventure with me. Hence, the name of this journal! The first part is packing. I started today. Yuck!! It almost makes me want to stay here... |
